Neuroscience can give us huge insights into why we find certain content and stories so engaging. It can explain why videos of cats go viral overnight, how you can still remember the lyrics of a song you haven’t heard for 10 years, and why a 3-minute festive ad from a supermarket can leave you in tears. This knowledge is widely used in the entertainment, music, and social media industries, but is rarely applied by research, government, climate, or human rights organisations.

I have had the opportunity to research and apply this science of storytelling to the communication efforts of large research, data, and innovation projects across Europe over the past nine years.

I am fascinated by how we can use this science for good, and how we can create copy, film, and virtual worlds that bring people together and inspire behaviour change that starts to address urgent social and environmental issues.

As a story designer, writer, and communications strategist, I can support projects at every stage of the communications process – from running storytelling workshops and developing brand concepts to creating content and campaign strategies.
